North Carolina hosted Boston College at Kenan Stadium on Saturday, October 25, 2008 and the Tar Heels came out with a convincing win. Hakeem Nicks had another brilliant performance at wide receiver with 4 touchdowns.
The big play, however, came from the defense as a long interception return by Kendric Burney landed the Heels on the 1-yard line. The 45-24 victory for the Tar Heels puts them at 6-2 on the season. The Eagles are now 5-2.

The Tune Swingers Orchestra performed at the Raleigh Elks Lodge on Thursday, October 30, 2008. Guests graced the dance floor with elegant class. The event was titled "That Old Black Magic".
North Carolina took on UPenn at the Dean Smith Center on Saturday, November 15, 2008 in college basketball.

James Taylor, legendary musician, plays a free concert on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Fetzer Field on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus in support of United States Presidential candidate Barack Obama. The event was part of the Change We Need Concerts and touted "James Taylor is 'Goin' to Carolina' for Obama". Taylor will perform in Raleigh and then in Wilmington on Tuesday.

North Carolina hosted Kentucky in a match-up of two of the most historically significant college basketball programs. Unfortunately, Kentucky is in a down year and UNC is loaded. Even with out Tyler Hansbrough, The Tar Heels defeated the Wildcats 77-58.
Deon Thompson scored 20 points, his career-high, to help top-ranked North Carolina beat Kentucky. National player of the year Tyler Hansbrough was in street clothes unable to play due to an injury.
Tyler Zeller went out of the game late with an apparent wrist injury.

N.C. State dominated the game against North Carolina on Saturday, November 22, 2008 in ACC College Football at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Wolfpack beat the Tar Heels 41-10. NCSU quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns.
